To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from AJS. c. to EFC.

PHANTOM DIRECT DRIVE FLYWHEEL STARTER
- AUTOMATIC SWITCH UNIT -

X. 7625.

We send you herewith a print of LeC.2381., and shall be very glad if you will confirm that the main central casting carrying the carbon brushes can be made an aluminium bronze die casting if required.

The scheme has not yet been brought before the Design Committee as we have one or two alternatives to put before R.{Sir Henry Royce}

Would EFC. kindly inspect the scheme shewn on enclosed print, and confirm -

(1) that the hold-on electromagnet is sufficient for the purpose, and

(2) that the flexibles from the main carbon contacts are ample for the current for the short time they will be called upon to transmit it, and only take into account the fact that only one may be in operation at a time.

Many thanks for previous information regarding this.

AJS.
