Mr. Royce has instructed me to come up to Derby during the time he is away, that is, until Friday evening, and to go as much as possible into the question of the strength of the springs in the side steering tube, the shocks that are felt on the steering wheel, the proportion of front to back braking, and similar outstanding problems.

As I have telegraphed to you today I am proposing to come up to Derby this afternoon, and shall come down to the Works about 9 o'c tomorrow morning, if you would kindly 'send a conveyance of some sort to the Midland Hotel.

We should like to try springs in the side steering tube very similar to the Hispano, that is balanced but of about the same rating as they are.

We hope you will be able to shew us one or two things on this problem.

Mr. Hardy is coming up too.
