| -5- TYPE OF OIL | CONSUMPTION PTS/HR. | REDWOOD VISCOSITY 110°C. 0°C. --- Castrol "Z" | 1.75" | 43.0 | 7250 Castrol "C.W". | 2.75 | 43.0 | 9000 Castrol "XXL" | 1.75 | 79.0 | 32500 Mobiloil "Arctic" | 1.97 | 44.0 | 2600 Motorine "C" | 1.50 | 55.0 | 26000 The most surprising fact from these figures is that Castrol C.W. is much worse than either Castrol "Z" or Mobiloil "Arctic" although the viscosity at 110°C. is approximately the same for all three oils. We have at present in connection with our tests on high oil consumption some scraper rings having various wall pressures from 22 lbs/sq.in. to 36 lbs/sq.in. but having ground finish and made to our standard ring dimensions and also some Compression rings with 1° taper, and we hope to be testing these very soon.
