Estimation of the weight of body car roofs for Saloon and Limousine models.

| WEIGHTS OF BODY CAR ROOFS. We endeavoured to roughly estimate the weight of the two car roofs of 7-Goshawk-11 and 3-Goshawk-11. On the Saloon car we stripped the covering from the under-side of the roof so that we could see what steel angle pieces were used, if any, and what stiffening pieces. We did not do this on the Limousine but we were able to locate the stiffening pieces approximately by feel-ing for them. It will be noticed that the heights of the roofs above the chassis are given; 7-Goshawk-11 being the heavier, and the springs being of the same rating will obviously ride lower on the road. The roof of the Limousine is not 3-ply but appears to be of some light wood of about the same specific gravity - in estimating the weight we have, therefore, taken the specific gravity of the material of the two cars to be the same.
