Cut thro. lightening hole - distortion may be reduced. (Also keep me informed, FAP, of further tests). R to Worthy. C.J. Na.{Mr Nadin} By? Rivets rubbing, essential? Alum probably wear itself clear. [Annotation: Try Cu or Al.] Anxious to avoid unnecessary ref No's for design work that doesn't tally with final distribution? Try larger no. of smaller rivets! [Annotation: Try 2 stiffening ribs (as per sketch).] I think we are quite within sight of making this brake into an exceedingly good one & I feel sure we shd be perfectly safe in going ahead with the drums for 3" wide ferodo & the cooling ribs as arranged. also, I agree, go ahead with the 1/4" thick ferodo. The only doubtful point seems to me whether the order of material of the shoe large or small, copper or alum rivets wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} not affect the material or machining but only the drilling of the shoe, which I hope will soon be settled.
