R.{Sir Henry Royce} We have adopted the following policy in connection with cars in the Experimental Dept. and hope it meets with your approval. There were 6 runnable cars in the Exp. Dept, apart from 58NA{Mr Nadin} which is with Mr Royce. These were 1413, 1926, 2100E, 2300, 2301 and 70A. Three at least we considered had served their purpose from an experimental point of view and it was thought that it would be a sound policy at the present time to turn some of these chassis into money, and instructions were therefore issued that 3 of these cars, namely 1413, 2100E and 2301 should be sent into the Repair Dept. for overhauling preparatory to selling as second hand cars. 70A is now being prepared for Mr Johnson and thus there will be 2 cars remaining in the Exp. Dept. for road testing, namely 1926 and 2300. There is another experimental chassis (3000)instructed, which was ordered in accordance with Mr Royce's wishes, but although instructions have been issued by the Drawing Office for it and contd. | ||
