X411 RHO. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BYS/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 2.2.26. "STAYBRITE" STEEL EXHAUST PIPES. 40/50 HP.CHASSIS. We have had submitted to us three pipes produced in "staybrite" steel for the exhaust system of the above engine. Would you kindly send along to my office for the pipes in question, and arrange to have the flanges brazed up and the pipes fitted to chassis to be tried out in the ordinary way. You will remember that we had some trouble when we were trying to do this work ourselves owing mainly to the tubes varying in thickness. The Chesterfield Company have met the difficulty by sweating up the ends of the tubes where the flanges have to be brazed on, in order to ensure that they get a close fit. The suggestion is that you should dip braze the parts as received, and fit same to chassis, as if these prove to be satisfactory, we shall be able to buy the pipes bent to confirm with the drawings, for which purpose jigs will be produced, which will ensure the parts being accurate when delivered.
