Brush-dust deposit was not excessive but brush-wear was very heavy. Brush wear was as follows:-

Position | Positive | Negative | Control
Inner. | .026" | .026" | .020"
Outer. | .019" | .023" | .024"

Generally it appears that these bushes are more liable to stick under ordinary running conditions than the present standard type; any tendency to stick being aggravated by the increased bevel. The bushes are, therefore, less reliable than the standard.

Furthermore, there appears to be no permanent reduction in brush noise with the use of them, while on the other hand the wear is increased. Consequently this type of brush in its present form cannot be recommended.
