We might require for the English and French Works ten or twelve such machines but should require them to supply about three to commence with. They need only be small machines, very hard driven when carrying the full load at full speed. They must have substantial shafts or the armatures and commutators built on a sleeve and provided with a conical fitted shaft. Well ventilated armatures and windings considerably reduce the size and cost of construction. The intermediate poles are desirable but not absolutely necessary, but no change can be made in the position of the brushes for the varying loads. Two or three phase This sheet must be filed with the correspondence to which it refers. | ||
