X.4195. RE AIR PUMP DRIVE.

In thinking this matter over I have come to the conclusion that the sliding of the pinion in the gear should be performed through the end of the shaft by a pin cross pinned to the hub of the pinion. A spring forcing the pinion into the disengaged position and the positive pressure on the end of the pin controlled mechanically should hold the pinion in engagement during the short period the pump is in use.
We are now working at the a complete drive and pump so that you can concen-R.{Sir Henry Royce} trate on the drive.
