WOP. C. to EN. OH. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RH.{R. Hollingworth} X4117 EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}5/H11.11.31. re. GFT-43. Lord Cholmondeley. With further reference to our memo. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}2/H11.11.31., the paragraph reading - "On the mile run the speedometer was reading about 70 m.p.h. and the maximum speed by the speedometer reading was 77 m.p.h. at each speed the rev. counter was reading approximately 3570 R.P.M." should read - "These tests were taken over the mile run and "clocked off". During this mile the minimum speedometer reading (at the start) was about 70 m.p.h. and its maximum reading 77 m.p.h. at which speed the engine rev. counter was recording 2750 R.P.M." A similar test on a standard 20/25 HP. Car GFT-33, Thrupp & Maberly, four seater, Coupe body, was taken at the same time, so as to make comparisons. The best speed obtained for the mile run was 62.5 m.p.h. On the road, however, this car gave a much more comfortable ride. Also, as regards GFT-43 body being particularly good for stream-lining, we certainly take the view that from an appearance point of view and also comfort, this could be much improved by having the steering and the seats lower.
