HARMONIC DAMPER.
Herewith calculations done at Cambridge on spring driven damper. The value of M is the effective polar moment of inertia of the shaft, that is the sum of the inertia on the nose plus 1/3 of the distributed inertia. The calculations are for any applied frequency, the natural frequency of the crankshaft being -
