firm would be prepared to manufacture a special dynamo for us containing certain improvements which would increase the efficiency and reduce to a minimum the noise which we have hitherto complained about.

In the meantime we have received a sample of this new design of dynamo and the same is in our Experimental Department at present.

The conditions upon which they would manufacture this special dynamo for us are that we order from them not less than 1000 dynamos and that we pay them an extra sum of approximately 15/- per dynamo over the price of the present standard dynamo. They estimate that the length of time required to make preparation for the manufacture of the new dynamo will be three months, and if during that time we require dynamos for production they undertake to supply to us their standard dynamo, made as satisfactory as possible, and will deduct from the order for 1000 new type dynamos the number of standard dynamos they have sold to supplies.

The Conference decided that a letter should be written to Lucas stating that provided our tests of the new dynamo are satisfactory, that we would authorise them to proceed with the manufacture of 1000 of the new type of dynamos, subject to the condition that if the supply should run short before they are in a position to let us have the new dynamos that they keep us going with the present type.

(4) CHANGEOVERS.

(1) Springs etc.

In order to keep the cost down as much as possible for these changeovers, Mr.Platford proposes that at the same time as the springs are changed the following should also be changed:-

(2) Rear Shock Absorbers, except for the first 89 Chassis, which will have to be done at the Works.

(3) Examine Dog Clutch at rear end of Starter Mechanism on Gear Box.

(4) Insert improved Friction Drive for Slipper Drive on Self Starter at front end of Gear Box.
