For the attention of Mr. Leslie Kent.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 23rd and the four high lift pumps which will go on test immediately. The pump fitted with chromium plated rollers had one side only working very slowly.

We found this to be due to the impact washer being left out and the residual magnetism was holding the armature against the spring. This pump is being run dry to find the effect on the Chromium rollers and toggle mechanism which appears to be worn and very slack As this pump has only run 1700 miles the wear on the toggle arm and bakelite is serious and may be due to the increase side load that the arms have to carry. These high lift pumps were ordered with air bottles and we would be glad if you would supply them.

With regard to the balve bounce on the pumps fitted with hard valves we are glad to hear you have been able to overcome this by decreasing the valve lift from 35 to 25 thous. presumably by turning 10 thous. off the shoulder valve face.

You state you have not experienced any reduction in delivery on your test rig by so ding. We have not yet verified this for our requirements but will do so immediately
