S/W. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from CWB. X8950 CWB4/EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/13.2.26. The following is an extract from a report by Mr.Lappin after a journey in one of our cars, ex-51-LC. "On the road to Martlesham the float chamber cover unscrewed and stopped the engine. It may be considered desirable to fit a locking device to obviate such an occurrence, as if the over-flow pipe happened to be pointing towards that portion of the exhaust pipe which is not asbestos, the risk of fire is not improbable". I have not heard of any [other - handwritten] occurrence of this nature, but perhaps you may have experienced this also. From your experience do you consider any action is necessary to provide some locking device on this cover? CWB. [CWB - signed] | ||
