To BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to CJ. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X 8366 DA {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} 3/M/11.3.26. EAC.7. DOUBLE REAR BRAKES. X. 8360 X. 7360 Mr. Royce has said that the first EAC.7. should be fitted with the existing New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I rear brakes. This involves some way of carrying the camshafts and operating levers like the present 20 HP. scheme so as to clear the semi-elliptic spring. We accordingly send herewith N.sch. 2160., shewing how the levers, brackets, and bearings for the camshafts shewn on N.schs. 2149/50 could be adapted for use with the New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I brakes. The camshafts are reduced in dia. in accordance with R's requirements for EAC.7. and an adapting bush is fitted into the Phantom brake carrier. It is suggested that this might be detailed in order that an EAC.7. axle may be built up as soon as possible. Modifications which R. {Sir Henry Royce} may require could be incorporated in the final EAC.7. axle. DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
