To HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} I appreciate the design of Wraith was settled before you were responsible for design and this memo/. must not be taken as a criticism of you personally but is written with a view to ventilating the whole position, bearing in mind the fact that we have been buying American cars for some years now, one of the objects of which was, I thought, to study how they saved weight because we knew that some of their performance was obtained in this way. I realise that you can doubtless account for the weight by various things such as increased width of frame etc. but that is not quite the point. I expect you have some accurate weights at Derby of the experimental chassis and the production ones and shall be interested to hear from you on the whole subject after you have had an opportunity of going into it.
