Dear Sirs, In reply to your letter of the 16th instant, reference as above, we beg to inform you that we are at present studying the question of fitting our guage to your tank and find that only the following modifications are necessary:- In the third division of your tank (looking at the front of the tank i.e. Petrol filler-cap on left) there is a transversal partition fixed by means of an interior axle. This axle would have to be abolished and the interior partition re-inforced by small bars in the form, for instance, of a cross. Then it would be possible to fit our gauge without other alterations. May we carry out the above suggestions on the tank you sent us which has not yet been tampered with? The proposed changes will be rather difficult on the old tanks as we have not easy access to the axle in the third division, but on the new tanks it would be merely a trifling modification for you. Anyhow, if you are willing to allow us to experiment on the tank in our possession, we trust you will not hold us responsible for any damage that may be done to it. We take this opportunity of asking you to be good enough to let us have blue prints of your tank, as the first ones sent us were forwarded to our factory in Paris. Yours faithfully, THE O.S.SPEEDOMETER CO.LTD. [Signature] | ||
