Mrs Shenton Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X8770 BY10/W.28.2.25. E.A.C. "V" SERIES. ------------------ The following is a list of modifications required :- (1) Radiator shutter controls (E's concern). (2) Oil leak generator drive (E's concern). (3) Cut out to different design blowing towards axle case. This has already been done by us. (4) Increased strength of tubes carrying front end of engine. This has already been done by us. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is to try soldering our new scheme, instead of brazing. I see no need for the latter. (5) GUDGEON PIN KNOCKS. R.{Sir Henry Royce} says make pin a fit in piston dipped in boiling water, the pin to be inserted cold. We are to supply new pin, the dimensions being as at present, plus expansion of aluminium reckoned on pin diameter for 100°C. (6) EXPLOSIONS IN SILENCER. We cut flat on cam to give a sure closing position when governor closes. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Ry | ||
