L.Kent,Esq., S.U.Carburettors Ltd., East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, BIRMINGHAM.8. Dear Mr. Kent, Thank you for your letter of the 28th. November. In our experience, one of the big advantages of the S.U. carburettor is that it is not necessary to cut down the induction pipe size to get good snap opening up and therefore, it seems a retrograde step to utilise this measure in order to get fuel economy, if it can be acheived in any other way. We would like to experiment with the vacuum controlled piston depression if you will let us have an indication as to how this should be carried out. With regard to S.U. carburettors to be run at acute angles of slope, it now appears that in any case we cannot fit the S.U's where we want to without special float chambers. We can use Diabolo floats, which will obviate any possibility of flooding. We will send you a picture of the carburettor we have arrived at as soon as the drawing is complete. Yours sincerely, | ||
