ELLIOTT BROTHERS Ltd., CENTURY WORKS, LEWISHAM, LONDON, S.E.13. WP/LE.RJ.1614. W43/NU27127. 1st. February, 1927. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, We have now examined miniature ammeter No.140999 and cannot find that there is anything the matter with it. It is reading within first grade accuracy, and does not appear to be sticking. We shall be glad to learn before despatching this instrument if there are any special tests you would care for us to make as we are anxious, if possible, to reproduce the exact conditions when the fault was found. Is it possible that in erecting the instrument some strain may have been put on the case which temporarily produced a distortion which caused the instrument to stick ? We may mention that this instrument was despatched in Sept. 1925. There is also one point further that we notice, that is, the sealing cup has been filed away, thus causing the risk of entry of dirt into the instrument since with the flanges of the cup removed there is nothing to clamp the case to the base-plate at this particular joint. We are, dear Sirs, Yours faithfully, ELLIOTT BROTHERS LTD. | ||
