Sheet 2.

The above satisfactory fitting of such an air pump on to the chassis will enable us I think to fit an air self starter to our existing cars, and we wish to avoid having the ever ready starter to the front end of the engine, as I feel sure that the air starter either carburetted or otherwise will be found the more satisfactory.

We are spending much time on these special things, which is causing delay to the Northcliffe engine. It seems, however, unavoidable, and will be of considerable use if we can find a satisfactory solution of these customers requirements.

R.{Sir Henry Royce}

(1) Will the customer who asks for the ever ready starter allow us to fit an air starter which we should recommend in preference.

(2) Will the customer who wishes for a revolution indicator be contented if it is driven from the gear box, i.e. it will show engine revolutions but through the main clutch.

(3) Would Mr. Johnson think the following suggestions reasonable for customers who will have self starters fitted to our present pattern of cars it is
(1) To fit Bosch Dual ignition and reserve our present battery ignition.
(2) To fit in place of the battery ignition a distributer and pipes for an air starter.
