X.4430 - CONDENSERS FOR "GOSHAWK" IGNITION.

Since our last report EFC2/T1.12.21, a quantity of .002" (thickness) oiled paper by 5" wide, which was used on the trembler coil work, has become available, sample of which we send to you, together with sample of .0015" paper used double for insulating coil secondaries, for comparison.

A plate condenser has been satisfactorily made up by our Production Dept. using this paper as dielectric, with .0005" tin foil, but otherwise to original LeC. design, this condenser giving a capacity of .25 mf. and standing up satisfactorily to our high voltage test. In view of this a further number of such condensers are being produced by the Production Dept. for comparative trial with the mica condensers produced by the Experimental Dept.

[Handwritten note above 'paper']: .002" thick

We have at the same time numerous enquiries in hand for paper and foil both for experimental condensers of the rolled Bosch type to dimensions called for in your 28.11.21 telegram, and now for condensers of the rolled flat type, in accordance with your recent advance print. It is proposed in this last instance, for comparison, to obtain the dielectric and foil singly, or alternatively ready interleaved so as to be in a ribbon similar to the sample sent you from the Bosch condenser, i.e. already containing the two dielectrics and the two foils adhering to one another. It will then only
