1258. EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}14/JH. 2nd. September, 1938. Wellworthy Ltd., Lymington, Hants. For the attention of Mr. Blackith. Reply dated 3/9/38 in file 1020a Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of August 31st. referring to our enquiry for special test pieces made from piston ring material. With reference to the first paragraph of your letter, we would like to point out that we are confining our proposed test to cylinder material, and not as you mention to ring material as well. The writer is visiting High Duty Alloys (Slough) next week to discuss bearing material. As Mr. Howlett will probably be present at this meeting, we wondered whether you may be there too. In which case the queries which have arisen, re. the best way of making the proposed test pieces could be settled. On the other hand, the writer would like to take the opportunity of discussing the point during your proposed visit to Derby, as long as it does not coincide with the visit to Slough. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
