1245 W/P. To Sr. from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Many thanks for the note re speeds achieved by Monsieur Embiricos' car. Re your remarks about the brakes. I suggest that the car is used a bit more before a final opinion is passed upon them. When brakes are new they invariably have a few hot spots which cause localised heating, and give one the impression that they are fading. As soon as they get bedded in, particularly with aluminium drums, the fading disappears. I shall be very astonished if, with aluminium drums on the front, the brakes on the streamlined car are not up to their job. I suggest that it would be of considerable value if you could get a brief report from Monsieur Embiricos as to the results he has obtained on the car during the time he has had it, as this might convince Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} that it is not an entirely im-practical proposition. I was particularly interested in the information you sent over on the "Fram" Filter, and will certainly test it out. It looks to me to be on almost the same lines as the "General" Filter, but seems to be very expensive. Is it manufactured in France or is it imported ? At 250 frs. even with the franc at 170 it seems to be a fairly expensive proposition. I should be interested to know what the import duty is on the "General" Filters which have been sent to you. It looks as if they will be able to be produced in this country for some-where about 15/- when supplied with original equipment, and on top of this you will have to put carriage and duty. Ro.{C. C. Rose - Export Manager} has sent on the wing lamps; many thanks for these. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
