NEW TYPE ENGINE GUARDS.

The new type engine guards have been very good in keeping the engine clean under very dirty condition. The guards are, however, falling to pieces owing to the material being too thin. Consequently where the guards are attached by bolts to the frame and engine, the material is tearing away. They require reinforcing round the bolt holes which would then make the engine guards a very good job.

FRONT & REAR APRONS.

We have consistently had the bolts holding the aprons working loose, causing the apron to rattle. Modifications will have to be made to prevent this from happening.

BODYWORK.

The bodywork has remained in very good condition and has been free from booms throughout the mileage. We have had no trouble with any of the wing stays or wings breaking away at this mileage. A slight rattle has developed in the front windows.

ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT.

The dynamo output has been satisfactory. We have had a slight brush noise occasionally. The condition of the commutator and brush gear is good. We have run six hours each day with the Head, Side, and Tail lamps switched on. The battery under these conditions has been kept fully charged. No undue water has evaporated in the battery. We have had the battery ignition fail through the contact arm seizing upon the fulcrum pin. It was necessary to fit a new contact arm as the seizure was such that damage was done in releasing it. The contact points were badly burned and pitted.

STARTER MOTOR.

This has functioned O.K. throughout the mileage.
