6117 Experimental Department Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst.6/AP. 1st. February 1937. Messrs British Insulated & Helsby Cables Ltd., Helsby Nr. WARRINGTON For the attention of Mr.E.A.Bayles. Dear Sirs, Referring to our telephone conversation the other day with your assistant, in your absence, we have had a failure on one of our Phantom III. chassis due to the H.T. cable puncturing. This is the new cable which we have recently standardised, and which we have all along reiterated is not as good as the previous cable we tested some time ago. In connection with this high tension cable, it will be remembered that we were to have a further discussion on the possibility of modifying the specification tests, so that we could produce the results obtained with the previous sample of cable which had a very much better resistance to ozone attack. We should therefore like to know the latest position with regard to such mutual discussion. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
