TO Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}

FROM PN.{Mr Northey}

In reply to your Hsl/LG18.6.24 and referring to our conversation on the 'phone this morning, it would not be suitable for the purpose we have in mind in taking a car over to France at the beginning of August, that it should be other than a standard 40/50 HP with the latest four wheel brakes, as our object will be to drive in the car with representatives of the Press, in order that they may have a rather extended experience of our new system of braking, about which they will write when we give them leave to do so at a time when we are in a position to make known generally all particulars of our new braking, and at the same time give demonstrations.

Now about the actual car - it would appear that the only car that really lends itself for the purpose is the one which you have, and which I understand is in good smart condition of appearance.

Of course, if any further work is necessary to this car in order to make it look better, there is plenty of time for this to be done.

Will you therefore be good enough to set this car aside so that it can be available for the date of the Grand Prix ? We shall probably leave London about the 31st July and return about the 5th or 6th August.
