B.III 15,000 MILES' TEST. Although we have stated in the programme that the first B.III will go to France in October of this year, we make the following suggestions:- On the Wraith we had a preliminary run in France which was of considerable value, and then had a final run with a car which was almost completely finalised. This procedure has shown itself to be very satisfactory judging by the excellent strip report and the few modifications which had to be made to the 100 cars now being built. Our recommendations are that as soon as the second B.III is built and got into reasonable shape, it should be sent to France for a preliminary run. We must get a figure of merit for the suspension with its rubber bushes on the road, otherwise we cannot tell what our bump results mean. If this test is successful, it should be necessary to run only one further 15,000 miles' test on B.III and one on B.50. If we can get the car completed before the end of June, the idea would be to start the test before the Summer Holidays. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
