Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/KW.2.8.34 wherein you say you are not clear how I got the impression that the dropped cross member was running in France on the above car, firstly, I got the impression because I was told so at the Derby Conference on the 24th July, and this was confirmed in your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/KW.26.7.34, wherein you gave a list of the new parts which had been fitted to 4-B-IV then running in France, and Item No.2 says: Dropped Front Cross Member Sch.614.

I should be glad to know, in view of the fact that it was not fitted to 4-B-IV, how this matter now stands, especially in view of the fact that at the last Derby conference we agreed to take the risk of ordering material, so that, if OK, we could bring it into production quickly.

Your memo. of the 2nd ult. says that the most speedy way of proving its reliability is on the bump test.
