X1536 INDIA TYRE & RUBBER COMPANY, LTD. TELEPHONES: PAISLEY 4141/5. INCHINNAN SCOTLAND TELEGRAMS: INDIATYRE, RENFREW OUR REF. PW/HDE. YOUR REF. 8th January, 1936. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, With reference to the alleged cracking which has been reported in a few cases, I have gone into the matter and I find that our Derby Depot has been delivering the 5.50/18 Super tyres to you unwrapped. The wrappers have been cut off at the Depot by running a knife around the outside of the tyre in the tread groove and there is no doubt that the tyres have been cut at the bottom of the groove by this practice. We have issued instructions to the Depot to stop this practice immediately and we do not think you will have any complaints from this direction in future. Of course, any tyres which are reported as cut or "cracked" we are quite prepared to adjust although we do not think that the cutting is severe enough to cause the tyre to fail in service. Yours faithfully, INDIA TYRE & RUBBER COMPANY LIMITED. Pane hmdt. Works Manager. | ||
