RE REPAIRS - SPRINGING COMPLAINTS.

As instructed in Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}18/E.15.5.30. I am giving you below a list of the Phantom 11 chassis in respect of which we have received springing complaints at this department. These do not include any of those in H's list ref. E7/H.8.5.30.

We should like to make clear that the complaint has not necessarily proved to be justified in all cases, also owing to lack of time we have not been able to separate out some cases in which the springs have been changed because the springing specification has been changed since the chassis was first delivered :-

1 WJ - New rear springs 100 lbs. heavier fitted - no complaint given.
8 WJ - Rear springs too flexible. ✓
29 WJ Uncomfortable riding. ✓
31-WJ Car coming down on rear buffers. X
55 WJ Bumping on rear buffers.
81 WJ Car standing down on offside rear and bumping on rear buffers.
83 WJ Uncomfortable riding.
112 WJ Excessive liveliness of springing at speed. ✓
119 WJ Uncomfortable riding. ✓
115 WJ No complaint given - 2 new rear springs fitted.
193 WJ Uncomfortable riding. ✓
6 XJ. No complaint given - new rear springs fitted in Feb. ✓
5 XJ. New springs fitted for use in Spain.
12 XJ. New springs fitted for overseas use.
58 XJ Uncomfortable riding at high speeds. ✓
99 XJ. Bumping on buffers.
153 XJ Bouncing.
21 XJ. Standing down on nearside when unladen.
137 XJ. Bumping on rear buffers.
193 XJ. No complaint given - new rear springs fitted. ✓
o102 XJ. Existing springs too weak.
o140 XJ. Constant bumping on rear buffers.
1 GN. Car coming down on buffers.
19 GN. Remedy swaying. ✓
