X38574 wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} C. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ------- BY/MB/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 5. 7. 22. RECEIVED JUL HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 1922 RE CHASSIS 1-EX. ROAD SPRINGS. ------------------------------- Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has handed to us a portion of one of the road springs off the above chassis which has failed whilst in service. An examination of this plate shows the Brinell to be excessive, being in the neighbourhood of 577. The fracture of the plates indicates that the plate had not been tempered. Under these circumstances, therefore, we consider that Messrs Woodheads should replace the faulty plate which has broken. A portion of the fracture is forwarded to you herewith for your examination.
