Necessary improvements to a vehicle's carburetter, steering, and body.

contd :- -2- We understand that a new spray chamber will be necessary for the carburetter. Whether the existing spray chamber can be machined in such a way as to permit of the roller bearing being fitted we do not know: it should be investigated, and we ought to be prepared to accept something which is screwed on and sweated. STEERING. We do not believe that the 1⅛" pitch steering will ever be satisfactory. This will have to be changed to the .940 or still better to .875. At the same time as this steer- ing is changed correct longitudinal tube springs should be fitted. (20 HP. tubes are dealt with in another memo.) HEAT INSIDE THE BODY. Well fitting floorboards are a necessity; asbestos underneath, and a rubber mat on top proved a cure, but you can have the shield over the rear silencer and part of the swan neck as an extra precaution. STEERING WOBBLES. We have suggested adding the friction to the balls on the cross steering tube, or add friction to the pivots them- selves by the spring loaded additional disc, or I hope better still, fit the hydraulic steering damper now in the hands of test. ------------------ The aforementioned defects are I consider the vital ones, which, when they are corrected, should make both our chassis satisfactory, but naturally there will always be minor troubles, principally due to lack of care on the part of the users, or in fitting up, but the chronic faults of the chassis, such as those I have mentioned, ought without doubt to be put right forthwith at our own expense, and it is imperative that this be done with a view to improving our reputation, and eventually our Sales.
