X7120. To Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} from EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} CX.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} Whr.{Mr Wheeler} EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/11.11.29. X7770 X7830 X7120. RE - EUROPEAN PROPAGANDA CAR PHANTOM II. We send herewith drawings of two cars which we have made at the request of the Export Dept. N. Sch.2952, shews a close-coupled body 4,600 ins. shorter than 18-EX and 1-WJ. The design is unique in that the bonnet hinges are continued as mouldings in the scuttle, making bonnet and scuttle appear to be a unit. The other novel feature is the entire absence of mouldings and a panelled rear trunk. N. Sch.2960, shows a similar body but still more close-coupled. It will be realised that 18-EX and 1-WJ are not close coupled bodies, but four door saloons. The shortening is achieved by pushing the feet of the rear passengers under the front seat and by sinking them in wells. N.Sch.2961., a layout of the seating of N.Sch.2960 illustrates this point. This is still a very popular type of car on the Continent and from our point of view makes a good demonstrator of our chassis as the passengers are well disposed between the axles and the weight is concentrated at the rear. Would you kindly send prints of these drawings to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Whr.{Mr Wheeler} and an extra set of prints to us at W.W. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
