X4308 EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 5/T. 3rd. May, 1928. Messrs. The A.T. Speedometer Co.Ltd., 20, Avonmore Road, West Kensington, London, W.14. Dear Sirs, We duly received yours ref.GOB/W. of the 20th ult. We have made a test of another instrument as we suggested and there does appear to be some small amount of irregularity in our temperature measurement, as we indicated might be possible. We are therefore taking steps to re-arrange the apparatus, if possible, with a small circulating fan so that the instrument and the thermometer must be more certainly at the same temperature. It will therefore be a little while longer before we can send you the instrument. In the meanwhile, averaging out the irregularity, the drop of reading would appear to be a good deal greater than your own figure, though perhaps a little less than the figure that we previously gave. With the two instruments of which we gave you the curves, we were struck with the consistency with which both instruments gave points which lay almost exactly on the two lines (curves) of which we sent you a copy. The points as put in with an ordinary pencil were all in contact with the thickness of the line. With the results now obtained this is not the case, so the matter is still somewhat puzzling. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
