Dear Sirs,

JACKALLS FITTED TO 5-B-IV.

Further to yours of the 26th instant Ref:Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring} 27/KW, which has been formally acknowledged in the writer's absence. We regret to learn that the N/S rear jack bracket has fractured. This item has now come to hand and after inspecting same we have come to the conclusion that it failed owing to the fact that undue stresses have been imposed such as applying pressure and forcibly pushing the car off the jacks. We mention this in the light of your observations regarding the O/S rear jack in the fourth paragraph of your letter, and would appreciate your kindly enlightening us on this point and in any case as to the nature of your tests.

We would further explain that the writer's Bentley has been fitted with brackets of an earlier type which, although of less robust design, have been entirely satisfactory. The jacks on this car have been subjected to numerous tests and have been in continuous use.

However, we have arranged for modified brackets to be prepared immediately and these will be available in the course
