X4260 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to CJ. BJ. LHS.{Lord Herbert Scott} R5/M13.10.23. RE. GOSHAWK FRAME. X.4260. X.4604. We have in hand new frame brackets for the Goshawk chassis, for carrying the body. The present frame brackets were only intended to carry the weight of a complete unit body. The new frame brackets are intended to help to strengthen a badly constructed body by means of our frame. We are also carrying out improvements to cross members for Goshawk to increase the torsional stiffness of the frame. We think the simple original trussing is all that we can do practically, the other schemes are scarcely practical or ugly. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
