Re Standardisation of Clutch to N. Sch. 3948. Bentley. The clutch that has run 15,000 miles in France on 21-G-IV is to the following specification :- To LOP. 56654 and N. Schemes 3948/4181 excluding the clutch spring drive but incorporating Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1416 flywheel, G.56666 driven plate saw cut but not staggered to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1596. For production the position of the rivets requires altering not to foul the saw cuts. G.56833 Timing Pointer. G.56834 Oil Catcher. G.56837 Flywheel Cover. G.56838 Bolt. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1355 Back Plate Springs. Ex.16042 stops to give .012 movement of Back Plate. G.56835 Friction Plate modified to EX.16037. G.50925 Spline bearing produced in Gunmetal. EX.16038 Driving Pins replace G.56650. Friction Linings in RAD.11 material. It is possible that certain of the Piece Numbers given are incorrect when flywheel Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1416 instead of G.56836 is used, but the spring loading and movement of the inner pressure plate should be the same as would be the case with the heavy flywheel.
