From Exp. Dept. Copies for: J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} R.{Sir Henry Royce} Na.{Mr Nadin} Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}3/C26314. March 26th. 1914. Report on 2 ton Michelin Jack "Fred". X. 391. This jack is of the screw type. The body is tapered and is of pressed steel. The base is 4½" square. The height when closed is 10½" and the screw has 5" range. There is also the quick extension on top which has 4½" range. The load is carried on a good ball thrust bearing situated at the bottom of the jack. The screw is revolved by bevel gearing at the bottom end. There is a spherical seating between the screw and the thrust bearing. A handle 30" long is supplied which folds up. The whole thing is a most excellent job and I can recommend it as being the best jack I have come across. The weight of jack and handle is 11 lbs. We have had several in use for 6 monthe with ver y good results. | ||
