Contd. -2- EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}4/F20.4.20. oil leaks which take place from the various openings of the crankchamber which we have previously complained of, i.e., tappets, actuating control rods passing through the crankchamber, crankchamber joints, etc. 5. We also consider that the battery make and break mechanism is not giving satisfaction owing to the oil vapour etc. which is forced into the make and break box, causing the platinum points to become dirty. Is it not possible for some ventilation scheme to be arranged for this make and break box ? This point has already been brought to EFC's attention on various occasions. 6. We feel that the power and general running of the engine, especially at slow running flexibility, is considerably influenced by the leakage past the pistons. Carbu ration is also unsatisfactory.
