PHANTOM IGNITION CHARGING VOLTAGE.

I have your EFC1/T1.6.26 which confirms generally the view I have taken on this matter.
The point is, however, how to deal with a customer who is having no end of trouble with the burning of his make-and-break. Have we evolved any simple baffle or seal which can be applied to an existing car suffering from this trouble, so that the oil fumes which you allege are the cause of the trouble, can be prevented getting at the parts concerned?
I await your reply before writing finally to Mr. Sidney.
Obviously, the first advice to an owner should be to use reasonable discretion as to the amount of charging which his battery is receiving and to allow it to be charged only when it is required. In addition, as it would appear inevitable that batteries in many cases will be in a constant condition of over-charging, can we provide, at any rate, the side-lamps and tail-lamp with bulbs capable of withstanding the high voltage without undue damage, or alternatively, do we suggest providing these three lamps having filaments of, say, 15 volts instead of 12 volts?
I shall be glad of your reply by return.
P.N.
