Contd. -2- EFC4/T29.8.27. view of the fact that we did not consider these magnetos very good in other respects (magneto appeared of a poor type) we did not take the matter any further. From a purely technical point of view, we consider there is nothing in the running, produced in this country, except Watford and Lucas. We have, therefore, only up-to-date Robert Bosch and Scintilla machines for comparison. We have asked Roy{Sir Henry Royce}, to find out the present prices of R.Bosch and Scintilla machines. When our bench tests of these two Watford sleeveless magnetos are completed, one will be passed temporarily to the Test Dept. for their approval from a quietness point of view, and will then be sent to you. The other will be put on an experimental chassis which is likely to do must running, in order to expedite a 10,000 mile test of this type of machine. The original machine at present on an expl. car, will be returned to the Watford Co. EFC. | ||
