Mr Hives

I have sent to Dodd over with the 6 connecting rods taken off 93. We found them when changing piston rings.
You will see how the metal has broken up, at no time during the tour has the engine been short of oil, and the pressure has been steady and up to 25lbs the most of the time.
It appears to me to be faulty metal, or insufficient thickness, do you think that the uneven expansion of the two metals has anything to do with it. We had no notion when the car was brought in of the state of the rods so you may guess we were surprised when we dismantled same.
We have also broken two leaves in the off side rear spring, and changed the near side front spring as we found a broken leaf in that one.
The brakes are all worn out and the drums are too badly scored to fit new shoes to so we propose sending the drums and shoes to the Paris depot to be renewed and ground. The coupling is still OK and other parts of the car seem to be OK. We have lost one spring and bolt from near side torque reaction damper of engine we can get this replaced at Paris. The rods have run 8,407 miles Will you please telegraph me if
