Contd. -2- R9/G27.4.21. our own, to learn the possibilities. You will remember that for "Goshawk II" the car is geared for a much lower speed. The enclosed cars for town work will be geared for 20 miles per hour at 1,000 of the engine, and as the dynamo would be going at 1 1/2 engine speed it would permit of a small and light dynamo of a much higher speed than our 40/50. The figures I gave you for this were that its characteristic would be at the same road speed as the 40/50, and consequently the curve of performance would permit of about 40% greater number of revolutions, and also the output was not expected to be more than 60 to 70% of the output required for the big car. The dynamo carcase has also been given as not to exceed 5 1/4". R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
