I had a five minute run on the above car yesterday, fitted with an open touring body. The power unit you are already acquainted with. The car is now fitted with four Andre Tele-Control Shock Absorbers in addition to the Standard "Thermostatic" type, and the suspension appears to be excellent for fast travelling and corner work. The Red Sector on the rev. counter is from 4200 to 4500 and running through same on the road brings valve balance at about 4300 r.p.m. The power peaks at 95 H.P. at 3500 r.p.m. Acceleration figures are claimed as follows:- 10 - 30 m.p.h. 2.4/5 seconds. Rest - 60 m.p.h. 13.2/5 " Maximum Speed 82 - 86 m.p.h. Consumption 18 m.p.g. A conversion is being carried out at the Invicta Works and six cars have already been delivered. The Hudson Essex Motors Ltd. have orders in hand for a further 55 chassis for conversion. Prices:- £499 for Saloon or Open Sports. £585 " Drop Head Coupe. They are also carrying out a similar conversion on the Terraplane Six. It is understood that the Terraplane Eight is now obsolete in U.S.A. and they are tooling up for a new car about December which it is thought will have a more powerful power unit. Lp.{Mr Lappin} | ||
