Dear Mr. Cupper,

We are despatching to-day by passenger train your set of Stabilus Shock Absorbers to Stabilus Ltd., 16 Berners Street, London W., as requested by you. We hope these parts will arrive, as the address appears a little incomplete.

Our general impression of the Stabilus system is that it should be very useful to prevent rolling, where such rolling causes violent changes in the control of the car. On certain cars it reduces the side-way dither of the rear axle. The disadvantage is that it limits the soft setting of the shock absorbers; and it is impossible to have the best soft ride, if a real benefit is being gained from anti-rolling.

For certain cars we feel the advantages would probably be considerably greater than the disadvantages, but on our cars we prefer to overcome the faults which are affected by the Stabilus system by fundamental design of the chassis. Instead of relying on certain components to cure faults we slave with the basic design so that such components have the least responsibility. This makes the failure of such components less drastic.

We thank you for the trouble you have taken and for giving us an opportunity to try the Stabilus system. If at any time we come across a need for such a system we shall immediately get into touch with you.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
