To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BJ. +7310 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/M20.1.27. EAC.7. CUTOUT OPERATION. X.7490 X.7310 Herewith we send N.schs. 2341/2 shewing the cutout operation. It will be seen that it follows the lines of that recently instructed for Phantom, but on account of the different arrangement of cross members, and the relatively higher position of the gearbox it has not been found possible to keep it exactly like Phantom. In order to make the mechanism as accessible as possible, in spite of the heat shield over the silencer, we have turned the levers on the silencer support up the other way. On N.sch.2341 it is intended that the pot in which the pedal works should be periodically cleaned out by detaching the front cover. It will be seen that we have modified the front support for the gearbox, but this is not intended to apply to the first car. In order to get this cutout on to the existing car we have made N.sch.2344 (herewith) shewing a specially screwed on pad, as we considered it would be impossible to use the gearbox bolt as indicated on N.sch.2341.
