Cox - Advertising Manager}5/KW15.1.32. Originally the Expl. Dept. suggested that we should try the 25 HP. car with higher rating springs. - (1) In order to obtain a lower car. (2) In order to obtain better road holding. Actually, we have never run an Expl. car fitted with such springs but we had an opportunity of trying Lord Cholmondeley's car and we definitely came to the conclusion that the springs were unnecessarily hard. We therefore recommend that we should fit no more low rating springs to 25 HP. cars. The standard springs are all that is required. We are more than ever convinced that the low rating spring will prove to be the best standard springing for the present 25 HP. car. When they are adopted as standard the present springs will then be used only for Sports Cars. We see no reason why we should fit Hartford shock absorbers to any 25 HP. cars. If ever we make a really fast 25 HP. car we may alter our views, but at the moment with all cars up to the 18-G4. standard there is no need for additional shock absorbers.
