Float chamber and the under side of the air valves, to be connected to the forward intake at the point where it is joined to the carburetters. These alterations are necessary because the effective depression which lifts the air valves is reduced when the forward intake is used. At the same time and for the same reason, the depression over the jet is reduced.

Graph S.78 shows the required ignition characteristic and the power lost in avoiding detonation.
